Congratulations! Class of 2020

We extend our happiest and most heartfelt congratulations to the Class of 2020! You’ve earned a place in the record books! You have completed your studies and earned your diplomas against the backdrop of a health crisis that has kept us indoors, online, and at safe distances from our family, friends, teachers, coaches, and colleagues. You have graduated into a new normal that is yet to be defined, but which holds great opportunities for those with open hearts and willing spirits. You are among the young leaders and visionaries who will set the course and shine the light on new and innovative ways to learn, engage, connect, and succeed. Congratulations Class of 2020!

Yours Humanly Receives $213K Grant from City of Concord

We are deeply grateful to the City of Concord, California, for its generous grant to Yours Humanly in the amount of $213,000. The funds will benefit more than 4,000 students across ten Concord elementary schools through the Yours Humanly Literacy Program.

While classrooms are considered homogeneous for grade level, they are heterogeneous for reading ability—that is, within a grade, students are at different points in their reading skills. To promote early literacy and grade level proficiency, Yours Humanly will provide picture books, chapter books, leveled reading books, and bilingual books for students and classrooms in need, and host on campus Family Literacy nights to encourage parent engagement and reading at home.

Arik Armstead, SF 49er and Advocate for Education Equity, Named Yours Humanly 2023 Leading With the Honoree

Yours Humanly is pleased to announce that Arik Armstead, San Francisco 49ers defensive tackle #91, is our 2023 Leading With the Heart Honoree, and will be recognized at the 2023 Gift of Schooling Gala, March 18, for his work with the Armstead Academic Project, the nonprofit he founded dedicated to ensuring that every student, no matter their socioeconomic status, has direct access to the resources they need to thrive. The Armstead Academic Project supports students in Sacramento and the San Francisco Bay Area on the premise that a ZIP code should not define student opportunity. The Yours Humanly Leading With the Heart Award recognizes individuals and organizations for their vision and leadership on behalf of children and youth. Accepting the award on Arik’s behalf will be Aila Malik, interim executive director of Armstead Academic Project.

In 2019, Arik founded Armstead Academic Project to provide youth with positive spaces, tools, and academic support to help unlock their potential, dream big, and achieve their goals. Along his journey to give back, Arik works with schools, hospitals, and organizations that serve young people. He donates toys and books during visits with patients at UC Davis Children’s Hospital. He hosts the popular “Storytime with Arik Armstead” for elementary school children, and provides educational field trips, visits to colleges, and after school tutoring for youth, always reminding them of the power of books and education.

Please join us on Saturday, March 18, at the Blackhawk Museum, to recognize Arik Armstead for his visionary work toward education equity. Purchase Gala tickets at GiftOfSchoolingGala.com.
